Regardless of what opinions you have regarding Israel and Palestine, this has NOTHING to do with Remembrance Day in Canada. We have a tradition to honour our veterans that should not be hijacked to support a cause that is not relevant to the purpose of the day.
When 50,000 people are slaughtered-including up to and over 20,000 children- within a concentration camp of Israel's design -there will be protestations.
There are over 150,000 people dead and injured and a population of people are being purposefully starved to death with their lands stolen-by Israel.
Would Canadians step up and demand an end to what Zionists and the state of Israel have done to Palestinians for nearly 100 years?
I don't see anybody supporting the U.N. mandated Palestinian right of return, never mind their right to exist-especially on this forum.
October 7th was an Israeli false flag event where they stood down and allowed their concentration camp walls to be breached only to use the Hannibal Directive to kill most of the Israelis and Palestinians that day.
If you haven't reached that level of understanding a year into this genocide then you shouldn't be commenting on this genocide of the Palestinian people and the demoliition of the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
WIth respect, grow up and educate yourself and if not, shove your ignorance up your ass.
Bingo. We have a winner. First I want to say that it isn't pro-Palestine types saying these things. These are IDF and ex-IDF people some of whom shot Palestinians in their career.
Let's go over the sequence of events leading up to Oct 7th shall we.
1) Over the summer Israel withdrew most of the troops on the border with Gaza.
2) The IDF monitoring the border repeatedly warned that the Gazans were practising setting off explosives close to the fence.
3) Sept 01 the IDF takes the munitions away from the Gaza belt communities civilian defence armouries.
4) Sept 10 the IDF tells the Gaza belt communities to "Go ahead with their upcoming festivals" as they foresaw a period of "Relative calm".
5) A lady who works in Israeli intel said she had the plan as they had infiltrated Hamas. They literally had the playbook!
6) 10 days before Oct 7 the Egyptians warn Israel that "Something big is going to happen in Gaza soon.
7) 3 days before Oct 7 the Egyptians AGAIN warn Israel (including the PM office) that "Something big is going to happen in Gaza soon".

Key IDF officer reportedly voiced concern about Nova festival, but was told to OK it
Haaretz reported Monday that the Gaza Division’s operations officer, Lt. Col. Sahar Fogel, was unhappy about the event being held so close to the Strip, and his concerns were supported by other officers. The worries reportedly did not stem from fears of a terrorist incursion, but rather the threat of rocket and mortar fire from Gaza.
There have been multiple reports that warnings from surveillance and intelligence sources of a potential attack were ignored ahead of October 7. The report said it was unclear if Fogel knew of the other warnings.
Despite his objections, Fogel was told to approve the Nova festival, the report said, detailing concerns of legal difficulties if the festival were not approved, as well as a request to combine the authorization with that of another festival, held at the same venue on October 5-6.
Ssecurity forces were aware that safe spaces could not be provided for the thousands of partygoers.
The music festival was held 3 miles or five kilometres from the border with Gaza.

Israeli observation unit claims their Oct. 7 warnings were ignored
ABC News' Ines de La Cuetara speaks with members of a primarily female unit tasked with monitoring Gaza's border and their alleged warnings before Hamas' Oct. 7 attack on Israel.
NAHAL OZ, Israel -
Stationed at the Nahal Oz IDF base, less than half a mile from Gaza, they were known as "the eyes of the military"-- monitoring hundreds of surveillance cameras overlooking the border, 24/7. They were always watching and always on high alert.
"It felt like something out of the ordinary was about to happen," said Roni Lifshitz, an observation soldier who was part of Unit 414 but happened to be away at a training on Oct. 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise terrorist attack on Israel.
Roni Lifshitz recounts life on Nahal Oz base before the Oct. 7 attack.
Lifshitz said she risks serious consequences in speaking to a news organization.
"The IDF may react. To tell you the truth, I don’t care. They abandoned my friends, I have no reason to listen to them," she said. "If [my friends] were here, they would be talking for sure."
According to Lifshitz, in the days leading up to Oct. 7, her unit was reporting unusual activity in Gaza on a daily basis -- so much so that she says there was apparently a running joke on base: Who would be on duty the day Hamas attacked?
Major General (Ret.) Noam Tibon criticizes leadership and intelligence failures he says contributed to the Oct. 7th attack.
Just days before Oct. 7, she said she saw “10 pickup trucks, 300 meters away. It was unusual to see those. They stopped at every Hamas post, looking at our cameras, at the fence, at the gates, pointing," she said. "The other thing was the training that we saw deeper inside Gaza, very much like a military routine, rolling over, shooting."
"We were completely ignored, they belittled us," she said. "No one really listened to us, mainly because I am not an officer. Because I am just a simple 20-year-old who knows nothing."
Eyal Eshel heard similar stories from his daughter Roni Eshel, who was also part of Unit 414, and Roni Lifshitz's best friend. She was just 19.
"'Dad, the cameras on the fence, in this point, are not working. Dad, there is a problem in the fence here.' Nobody came to fix it," he said.
In a chilling phone conversation obtained exclusively by ABC News, Roni Eshel can be heard telling her mother Sharon on Sept. 27 that she's overwhelmed by what she's seeing.
"Listen, three days in a row, attempted infiltrations, today there was an attack at Karni, explosive devices," she said.
Eyal Eshel took ABC News inside what's left of the Nahal Oz base, and into the command center where his daughter would have watched Hamas' incursion, reporting it in real time — until their cameras were neutralized.
When over a hundred Hamas fighters eventually reached the base, they set the command center on fire. Many of the young observation soldiers were trapped inside and burned alive.
"They didn’t find dog tags, they didn’t find bodies," said Eshel. "[They found] pieces. You can understand what I’m saying. Pieces."
Eyal Eshel said it's not just that the girls' warnings were ignored -- they were also abandoned, left to fend for themselves on Oct. 7 for six hours.
When they called for help, Eshel and Lifshitz said this was the answer: "Good luck Nahal Oz, take care, we don't have enough soldiers to come here and rescue you."
Fifteen of the observation soldiers were killed, according to Israeli officials. Seven were taken hostage, as seen in footage released by the hostages' families, handcuffed and bloodied. Five remain in Gaza to this day, according to Israeli officials.
"With 57 Muslim countries in the world and ZERO of them wanting to take people from GAZA...what does this tell you?"
It tells me that no Arab country is going to ethnically cleanse Palestine for the Jews. Why would they? What's in it for them? Like Sadat said when Israel tried to stick him with Gaza "Those are not Egyptians and Gaza is not Egypt".
And spare me the "to help their Arab brothers" crap. Arabs are as tribal as the rest of humanity. They wouldn't even arm their "Palestinian brothers" before the first war. They were just going to take it all for themselves. Didn't work out so they use their "Arab brothers (Palestinians)" as cannon fodder.
Would you like all of Kalistan moved to Canada?
Saying "It's not our problem" when our government is helping one side is nonsense. We remain neutral or it is our problem. Just like our mindless cheer leading Ukraine into self destruction. We ARE part of the problem.
Netanyahu allowed Qatar to channel hundreds of millions of dollars over the years to Gaza, much of it likely spent on the faction’s military wing.
Netanyahu himself told a Likud party conference in 2019 that “anyone who wants to prevent the establishment of a Palestinian state needs to support strengthening Hamas.”
the zionazis did, before the state of israel even came into existence.
as far back as 1937 david ben gurion, remember him?, said that if the palestinians woud not leave on their own accord they would be spoken to in another language...
"Start a war and play the victim of their own consequences...."
This statment shows a complete lack of historical facts and reality. Total out to lunch nonsense.
The official numbers state 150,000 Palestinians have been killed and injured by Israel (credible estimates by the Lancet of over 200,000 dead ) while GAZA has been levelled to the ground and the people starved and their lands carved to pieces and stolen (West Bank).
200,000 dead Palestinians is 10% of the people of Gaza-intentionally murdered by the state of Israel.
I would hope that citizens of Canada would rally to save any people from a fascist, apartheid state that have been murdering indigenous people and stealing their land for 80 years.
Instead of support and demands, never mind sacrificing countless Canadians to a war on foreign soil , a symbolic reminder of this barbaric genocide of the Palestinians is not tolerated by some Canadians.
Use a safety pin to wrap to hold a towel around your shoulders, like a cape...and be super mad.
If you're going to commit to an issue that was literally caused and celebrated by slaughtering 1200 civilians on October 7th, 2023...at least dig in with both heals.
I appreciate your dedication and insights on the DoD/WEF Covid military event so there is hope for you.
"Israel is obviously a pariah state now. Nobody wants to be associated with it except for America and a few others.
Internationally, it is reviled as a quintessential evil actor in international affairs.
Amoral. Murderous.
This can't be good for Israel in the longer run and Mr. Netanyahu will bear a lot of responsibility for the destruction of Israel that is in progress.
The destruction of it's economy.
The emigration of many of it's best people.
The battle damage that is occurring.
The fear that it is generating.
The odious reputation of Israel internationally.
The splitting of Americans-and others-that were always very supportive of Israel into people that are disgusted by it and those that are still hard line supporters.
All of this risks the reestablishment of antisemitism.
It never really went away but it has been an insignificant factor in the minds of those that wish to perceive it.
There's no argument that in America ,for example, that Jews are among the most priviliged, wealthy, best educated people among all Americans. Greatly respected. Where's the evidence of antisemitism?
The world's Jews were traumatised because the Europeans tried to exterminate them. And they're now trying to exterminate the Palestinians.
The world doesn't approve of that any more than the attempt to exterminate European Jews." Former US Ambassador/ US Asst. Secretary of Defense Chas Freeman
The Palestine terrorist group and governing party HAMAS started this war by invading Israel on Oct 7 2023. They slaughtered 1200 Isralies and kidnapped numerous others. They then held them hostage in underground tunnels. Kick these terrorists out of our country along with those who support their deplorable activities.
A million Palestinians have been incarcerated in Israeli jails on Palestinian lands since 1967.
There are presently some10,000 Palestinians being starved, tortured, raped and executed within Israeli detention without charge, including CHILDREN.
Officially, the Israelis have slaughtered 52,000 Palestians in the last year, including up to 20,000 CHILDREN.
Most people with a basic knowledge base of historical facts recognise whom the terrorists actually are:
According to B'tselem, since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on 7 October 2023, Palestinians prisoners with Israeli citizenship have been stripped of many of their rights. It further found that abuse of detainees is so institutionalized that the prisons should be called 'torture camps'.
By July 2024, there were 9,623 Palestinians incarcerated by Israel.
You want to look at history...look in the Bible for GAZA and who lived there. They were Philistines and they killed generations of Israelites and Jews. The Palestinians (Philistines) do not want peace. They are a people who want to destroy all other nations. Even many Arab nations do not allow these people into their countries. The Palestinians will bring upon themselves their own demise.
The comments above, while being very informative and pretty much accurate, totally derail the subject of the original article.
I DON'T GIVE A FLYING FUCK WHO STARTED WHAT OVER IN THE SANDBOX. KEEP IT AWAY FROM CANADA AND DON'T DISRESPECT OUR VETS WITH IT.
18-yr Air Force vet here. This year is the 100th Anniversary of the founding of the RCAF. I normally don't go to the memorial since I left the service - got enough memories to last me a lifetime - and I just remember in my own way. This year, I was going to go but now am very hesitant. I'm likely to end up in jail or lynched if I see fucking rainbow poppies or sand fleas taking over the service. PTSD comes out in weird ways....jus sayin.
Nov 11 used to be mandatory stat holiday. Then it wasn't. Used to be Christmas decorations could not come out until after Nov 12. Then it wasn't. Used to be poppies not available until Nov 1. Then it wasn't. Military members and vets used to be respected at the very least because of their service in whatever capacity. Now, however...I would be ashamed to be in uniform. Service is definitely not what it once was.
I can't really care much for the enforcement goons in society after the last 4 years. All those macho "we have guns, medals, uniforms and AUTHORITY" tough guy types that are in our police and military. 97% took the shots like a bunch of pussies & posers. Fold like a cheap lawn chair for a paycheck.
They would have gone along with forced vaccination. They went along with 5 out of 6 Nuremberg code violations so don't pretend they'd have said "No" to the last one. They are nothing but paycheck collecting goons. I despise them almost as much as the medical profession.
The 3% that didn't go along with it I have the deepest respect for. They have toughness where it matters, mental toughness. They have morals, ethics and a spine.
Even the history of the world wars have been skewed away from truth towards a narrative. The questions are: what’s the narrative, who’s creating it and for what purpose? I don’t think our veterans knew the whole truth of why they were fighting. Similarly today, why are we fighting? It seems to me veterans were/are pawns in a game between elite special interest groups… is that what we’re proud to celebrate? We should honour veterans by stopping the fighting amongst ourselves and holding these elite special interest groups accountable for getting us into these unnecessary and destructive wars.
As to the Palestinians, I feel they are becoming the Irish of the middle east much like Ukrainians are becoming the Irish of east Europe. Wasn't much fun for the Irish either. Cannon fodder.
The Palestinians and Israelis both INTENTIONALLY target civilians. That means I will support neither because they both suck. That is a literal war crime and I'm not supporting anyone who does that.
A great history of Palestine complete with sources can be found here.
The only good thing about the mid-east gong show is that Israel and Iran are reduced to attacking each other's military bases. Both sides have shown they can hit anything in the other's country. Let the military bomb each other and leave the civilians out of it for once. Good. I'd even say that the politicians in both countries should be valid targets because they started it and keep it going.
Not sure where you have been when Israel have been conducting genocide and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinians for nearly 100 years:

they dressed alike and spoke the same language.
they lived in peace together.
just google deir yassin april 9th massacre...
that all changed when the zionazis came to palestine.
as for the palestinains not being welcome in arab states: is there a reason why the jews have been thrown out of so very many countries over time?

Wow! And I thought the Legion disrespecting unjabbed veterans was bad! This is beyond the pale! Thanks for shining a light on this Sheldon!
AMEN GODS SOLDIERS!
