I prefer the honest communication, warts and all, over politically correct 'rightspeak'. Your ABC involvement seemed a worthy attempt at bettering the lot of beleaguered Calgarians. We surely need it, so thank you for that Sheldon.

Really, how could one truly know how deep the corruption runs in most of our political circles without braving the foray?

Discern faithfully. You will find your way...perhaps our way.

I attended the founding meeting of Wexit, but I left feeling unimpressed. On my way to my vehicle, I overheard some attendees using racist language. It was clear to me that the movement had been compromised and wouldn't succeed. Later, at the founding meeting for ABC, I noticed many of the same faces in the room, which immediately made me uncomfortable.

I believe ABC has been infiltrated by individuals who, at best, serve as a fifth-column presence within the movement, having likely risen to leadership positions with support from the Liberal Party after its downfall in 2015. It's a mindset typical of the Liberals — the belief that they are the smartest people in the room, knowing best how to manage our money.

Fortunately, thanks to the events at the 2024 UCP AGM, these individuals have revealed themselves, and the grassroots movement now knows who they are. This same logic applies to the traitors within ABC. While I hope we can preserve the grassroots principles within ABC, I'm not optimistic. The party still embodies the basic framework of democracy but lacks the excellence and clarity of a true republic.

At first glance, the Communities First Party seems like a group of incumbent councillors trying to self-appoint to leadership positions, which feels undemocratic. However, the idea of bringing conservative values back into municipal politics is worth fighting for, even though we continue to face infiltration and division.

It’s time for us to start discussing how to remove these problematic elements and build a strong defense to prevent them from returning. We cannot continue to fall for the temptation of a quick fix that relies on large donations to achieve our goals. Freedom is neither free nor easily maintained — it requires constant effort, and it must be passed down to future generations. The allure of easy money nearly led us to the brink of losing our freedom, and it has taken decades to reach this point. We need a solid plan and the patience to see it through to its full potential.

All the best. Not a Calgarian, but I have lived in Alberta in the past (in the other Big City) and have extended family there. You have my mental vote.

Although I live in Edmonton (albeit only about 60 days of the year), I grew up in Calgary and still have family there. I still wish I was there and think Calgary is lucky to have you, and many others who are willing to make a stand. In Edmonton, everyone just takes it up the chute without barely a protest. Heck we're still shelling out 25 cents for a paper bag at the drive thru. Maybe it's 15, dunno, but nobody in Edmonton will stand up to the city. It's sad.The city is adding more low costhousing, whist also shrinking the roads and adding bike lanes that are never used, purposely creating congestion, in order to simply virtue signal.

I'll continue to support you, and wish you good luck!

Politics have always been dirty, now we can see how corrupt it really is. If you’re not willing to roll in the mud with them , these are the consequences. This h isn’t even begun Sheldon the closer it gets to voting the dirtier it will get. I admire your determination but don’t underestimate how ugly this will get

Welcome to the real world of government. Be it municipal, provincial or federal, it is all the same. To survive you have to be ruthless, corrupt, mean, clandestine and charming. So, maybe it is not for you after all. Make a wise choice were you and family stand by. Merry Christmas!

I became a member of A Better Calgary to avoid the very thing that I joined for in the first place, a vote split among right of center candidates but it appears the Conservatives pattern of having the inane ability to not work together is going to defeat all of us again. I need a better explanation from Dan McLean et al other than they are a "common sense' alternative. What do they know that I don't?
