I Consent?
Remember that COVID tracker app for Alberta? The one for Canada?
Nobody really talks about it anymore because all we can remember is that it was a colossal failure.
Research from York University suggests that the app may be having little impact on slowing the spread of COVID-19 because of how few Canadians are actually using it in proportion to the country’s overall population.
Yet when it comes to getting vaccinations, 74.8% of the Canadian Population has had at least one vaccination shot and 68.4% with both.
And I have a lot of questions as to why people would trust something injected into their body but not an app installed on their phone.
Turns out, you will now need that anyways - Vaccine Passport Trackers.
Whatever may have caused you to not want to get the app previously, you will have to overcome it as this will be what offers you your freedom, this round. Maybe. If you’ve gotten enough injections in the correct amount of time - Israel already has a 4th dose in discussion, in Canada - Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has secured 65 million more doses with access up to 120 Million more.
185 Million Doses/25.7 Million people “currently” Fully Vaccinated x Every 6 Months between Boosters = 3+ more years of this.
Longer?
Welcome to the new normal?
Do you consent?
Prior to getting vaccinated, you are required to sign a consent form and I wanted to see exactly what we would need to consent to in order to go to a restaurant or bar, wedding or funeral, sporting event or concert, passenger a plane or boat, leave the country, maybe even the province.
I’d be lying if I said that I’ve ever read a consent form before, but I think that I’m really going to start doing this a lot more.
For Alberta, much the same as I would expect for other provinces, you get some information and are required to give some information and Sign the Consent.
They open the information provided with the following statements:
Immunization protects you from disease. Get protected, get immunized.
Vaccines make your immune system stronger. They build antibodies to help prevent diseases.
Immunization is safe. It is much safer to get immunized than to get this disease.
Well, just based on the above, I wouldn’t sign consent.
Vaccines do not make your immune system stronger - this is complete bullshit. They tax your immune system, consequently weakening your immune system for a period of time (14 days between 1st and 2nd dose) and as we enter into Flu Season, this really seems like a terrible idea. Flu Season, during a Global Pandemic - Even Worse!
All of the following, from the same document, are results from an immune response:
Are there side effects from COVID-19 vaccines?
There can be side effects from COVID-19 vaccines, but they tend to be mild and go away in a few days. Side effects may include:
redness, warmth, swelling, bruising, itching, or feeling sore where you had the needle
feeling tired or unwell
a headache
a fever or chills
body aches or sore joints
feeling sick to your stomach (nausea), vomiting (throwing up), or loose stool (diarrhea)
swollen lymph nodes
cough
If this were the complete list, these seem like rare events and mostly minor. It also seems to me, they may have missed a little information on this list because the Alberta Health Services lists the following as Adverse Events Following Immunization:
The descriptions on the form seem akin to a toe stub. When I read the stats, it reads like the beginning of Every Zombie Movie Ever Made.
Form: Loose Stool - loose stool (diarrhea)
Stats: Severe Diarrhea.
I’ve chatted a few people that have had their jabs and anecdotally speaking, Severe Diarrhea, seems a little more accurate than “loose stool”.
There are some events at the bottom that are a lot more scary, these seem a lot more rare, but I am concerned about the Adverse Event of Special Interest, Other Unusual Events, Bell’s Palsy, Guillian-Barre and Thrombocytopenia. Adverse Event of Special Interest and Other Unusual Events are in the top 10 of these conditions and I have no idea what they even are.
Let’s flip back to the Consent Form for a second, maybe we can figure out these special interest and unusual events.
There have been very rare reports of myocarditis…
Does myocarditis make up either or both of the 2 vaguely descriptive side effects of getting the vaccinations?
“These events were reported mostly after the second dose and in young adults and adolescents.”
Feel better? Safer?
Wonder what happens after the 3rd dose? (I’ll tell ya, read on)
Now, if you have any adverse reactions - worry not my friend - there are some things you can do to help, “manage the side effects”.
There you go.
Swollen Lymph Nodes?
Severe Diarrhea?
Thrombocytopenia?
Put a cool, wet cloth over the area where you had the needle.
Myocarditis?
??????
What are the risks associated to COVID vaccine induced myocarditis?
Does this seem safe?
Safer than getting COVID?
For who?
*If you are under 19 years old, you are almost in a lower risk group than being able to Not Be identified by age - Unknown.
While ICU hospitalizations and ICU admissions seem to stretch into that 50-59 year age group, your risk of mortality is still very low, not that you wanted to be in ICU, but let’s drill into actual risks on this.
29791 Cases, 1885 Hospitalized, 480 in ICU, 124 Deaths.
Hospitalized - 6.3%
ICU - 1.6%
Deaths - .41%
This isn’t where it ends, there are comorbidity considerations for all of these as well.
If you have no comorbidities, count based on percentages of cases:
Hospitalized - 471
ICU - 101
Deaths - 4
By distribution being 50:50 on gender (I don’t want your thoughts on this subject), cut these numbers in half.
If you knew or were one of the 15,000 men/women who caught COVID and didn’t have a comorbidity, in the Province of Alberta, they stand a:
.0067% chance of dying;
.16% chance of being admitted to the ICU; and a
.79% chance of being hospitalized.
There are of course a lot of other factors to consider, smoker? regularly consume alcohol? Have a BMI > 40?…
(keeping in mind that this age demographic is the worst of the best)
Unfortunately, there isn’t enough data to weigh the risk of vaccinations adverse events by age and comorbidity because we don’t even know a full list of other conditions that lead to the adverse events from vaccinations, so, it’s not really a fair comparison. There are a lot less vaccination adverse events reported than there is serious consequences of COVID and the sampling size in Canada won’t lend itself to Adverse Events reported by risk and dose, but there is some information on this.
I did a little drilling into the CDC VAERS data and found this:
Adverse Events after the First Dose:
Adverse Events after the Second Dose:
And while there has been no Booster Shot program in place yet in United States, Adverse Events after the Third Dose:
78 ER Visits , 41 Hospitalized, 10 Life Threatening Conditions + 9 Permanent Disabilities and another 9 Deaths after the 3rd dose. Do you even want to know what dose 4 will look like?
Neither do I.
Of course there is going to be a booster program in Alberta and Canada as a whole. We’ve already bought at least the next 2 shots. When you consent to getting your COVID vaccinations, you are consenting to all of this. With exception of the VAERS data, all of the the information is available in the links posted in URLs at the bottom of page 2.
And, if you sign over consent right now, in the Province of Alberta, you will be one fat hundo richer in your back hipster!
There is of course a lot more information that is available now than when the vaccines rolled out. I was in no particular rush to get them then and now that this information is available am still not in any particular rush.
This time, I read the terms and do not agree.
I do not consent.
