What are the risks associated to COVID vaccine induced myocarditis?
On June 30th, 2021, Health Canada issued the following ‘safety alert’:
Health Canada updates Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine labels to include information on myocarditis and pericarditis
So, is it serious?
Well, it’s just a ‘Safety Alert’, not a product recall. Health Canada is on the look out and will have products pulled from shelves if there is any actual risk. Like this:
Nomad Nutrition brand Kathmandu Curry recalled due to undeclared mustard and split pea
How serious are they about pulling these things from shelves, you ask? If you read the link, you will find:
Who is affected
There have been no reported reactions associated with the consumption of these products.
There you have it.
NO REPORTED REACTIONS, but, because it contained undeclared mustard and split peas, you will have a harder time finding Kathmandu Curry. I honestly don’t know the size of risk to your health that you can get from the consumption of mustard and/or split peas or the combination of both, but if my government says to pull it off the shelf, who am I to argue?
The government of Canada recommends that you get vaccinated because even with myocarditis as a side effect, COVID seems to be a lot worse to the point of only issuing a warning to be observed when you’re thinking about taking this vaccine, where as, whatever happens to you when you consume mustard and split peas is obviously worse to warrant this product from being pulled from shelves.
If at this point, you wanted to weigh out the risks involved here, you would be weighing the death toll from COVID, cases of myocarditis linked to the COVID vaccinations and mustard/split peas.
How big is the risk?
In all of Canada and according to Health Infobase Canada up to August 13, 2021, there were only 485 confirmed cases reported following vaccinations.
ONLY 485 events diluted through the amount of vaccinations given is actually kind of tiny, especially if you consider that all 3 of the COVID vaccinations that are/were offered in Canada split the responsibility and a reaction to consuming mustard/split peas is probably a lot more worse, by the Government of Canada standards.
There are only slightly less people with itching boo boos from the jab.
Now if this seems oddly suspicious to you at all, and I hope it does, let’s dive a little deeper into it, myocarditis, not random itch.
To start with, myocarditis isn’t a super power. If you get myocarditis, you will not be faster than a speeding bullet, be able to leap tall buildings...To learn more, you can visit the Myocarditis Foundation website. Give the website a quick skim and, if you think you may have somehow increased your risk for myocarditis, maybe shoot them a couple bucks on their “Donate Now” link.
The foundation states:
What are the known causes of sudden death?
A majority of sudden death cases are linked to coronary heart disease, heart attacks, and heart failure. While the incidence of sudden death from myocarditis in older adults is unknown, roughly 1-9% of deceased patients are found to have evidence of cardiac inflammation. However, in young adults, nearly 20% of sudden death cases are linked to myocarditis.
Now, hold on. It’s probably not as bad as you think (still donate to them if you can), maybe we can figure out who is actually at risk and maybe reduce this or somehow weigh it against your risk from COVID.
Health Infobase Canada provides a little more info into this:
The stats from Pfizer and Moderna are a little all-over-the-place, but seemingly myocarditis doesn’t discriminate from ages 12-95, men or women but has tendencies more towards men with average ages of 24 years old and women aged average ages of 40. Interesting also to note, Pfizer induced myocarditis is higher in a population of young males - less than 20 years old aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand that you may not find out if you have vaccine induced myocarditis in 14 minutes (fastest case) but may have to wait 3 full months - 94 Days.
While these higher tendencies may not be completely exclusive, where does this group rank on the COVID risk scale, you may ask?
Starting off with case rate (total amount of COVID infections), among the absolute highest so much to the point that Health Canada identifies them as making up 50.3% of the total cases:
The group of most infected, suffers from the highest risk of myocarditis. That’s just not really great luck and must be tough to be a pre-40 these days.
What is their risk of Death from COVID?
Sum total of all listed in risk by age and warning is 234.
The risks associated with vaccine induced myocarditis: You are 2x more likely to get myocarditis from a COVID vaccine than you are of dying from COVID, if you are aged between 0-39 and again, from the myocarditis foundation:
in young adults, nearly 20% of sudden death cases are linked to myocarditis.
Myocarditis is only one of the Adverse Reactions to the vaccinations and in fact, there have been 12,680 Total Adverse Reactions following immunizations in Canada, myocarditis taking up to 94 days after vaccination to present and that there have been 173 deaths reported - according to Health Infobase Canada.
You may think that this is more serious than consuming a product that contains mustard/split peas and you may be right. To have this food item Recalled by the Government of Canada, it required a consumer complaint.
Background
This recall was triggered by a consumer complaint.
Kind of makes you wonder if anybody has complained to the Government of Canada or if any piece of information they may have come across on their own websites may be worthy of a little more in depth review?
