I don't understand this - imagine if you bought a house on a cul-de-sac thinking that your kids could ride their bikes without fear of being mowed down. Then somebody buys the house next door and slaps an apartment on it. Suddenly there's no place to park, the traffic is ridiculous, and because the rent is so cheap you have all kinds of undesirables living there because that's what they can afford on top of their drug habit. Nobody here wants this, that's why they said no to the plebiscite.

Edmonton passed an omnibus re zoning bylaw. Now it is open season for developers as they can buy any lot, get it rezoned, and build a 3 to 8 story apartment complex. Neighbours no longer have any say or ability to appeal. Lot by lot, block by block, neighbourhood by neighbourhood, Edmonton will be turned into an urban ghetto and concrete jungle. Higher density housing increases tax revenues for city hall and all the union members who run it. In Edmonton, the majority of councillors' election campaigns were funded by developers, and unions backed the communist mayor. These people have no regard for who pays the taxes to operate the city, namely residential property owners.

Vancouver is also partaking on the building boom - Cambie Rd and environs is lined with cranes (and there was an ugly accident a week or so ago). There are three reservoirs that supply water to most of the lower mainland. Watering restrictions extends from May 1 to October 15. Now, a particular building site nearby, on SW Marine Drive, advertises for a bit short of 600 rental units. Methinks that our water woes will only increase. Most of the building is going on near skytrain stations.

P.S.: On March 11 an elderly man was shoved onto a skytrain. The 34 year old perp was arrested, but has now been released on many conditions...

Calgarians need to understand that R-CG, R-G and H-GO are all being misrepresented by the City. R-CG for example allows 4 units on a single family lot. What is not accounted for in the allowed density, is secondary suites. So one single family lot ends up with 8 units on it. This is disingenious and needs to be called out at the Public Hearing April 22. Show up and speak up.

Sounds like they are implementing the 'build back better' program. Look forward to power and water shortages and rationing. But its all for your own good. You'll own nothing and be happy

No worries, California has already figured this out, they treat sewage so it can be recycled into the water supply. Gondek will have us drinking pee water, after all it’s for the greater good.

I always felt there should be a Manitoba to Saskatchewan and Alberta aqueduct. to provide grey water from the red river for irrigation and watering your yard even. It's the same water system but Davos would object.
