Call me cynical this is Thomas Nothing Burger Lucazick who has Elections Alberta in his back pocket. Alberta has been asking for a seat at the table for the last century. Even Preston Manning got fed up with the Ottawa coven of Wanglers. We will get a seat at the table when Ottawa and the Brookfield gang realise the gravy train is about to dry up. Oct 19th Q19 vote option 2
LEVERAGE. I keep telling people that the first vote is for "leverage". Alberta has never had any in Canada and we never will because our population is too small to matter. This is the only way for Alberta to get leverage.
Get rid of "Equalization Payments" and I'll stay but paying $60B and getting $40B back is not something I want to continue. Same issue as the early 1980's when I got here.
I'm old enough to remember the WCC (Western Canada Concept) party that got one member elected from Olds/Didsbury to the provincial legislature. Issue is still the same. Nothing has changed because ...
I'm fortunate to work in an industry with a union shop. Every four or five years is contract renewal. And virtually every contract, our union is forced to take a strike vote in order to Bring The Company To The Table!
Do people want to go on strike? Of course not. However, when the company plays silly bugger demanding concessions and refuses to negotiate, the bargaining unit has no choice but to show it's strength thru a strong mandate of the right to refuse service.
Does everyone get what they want! Never. But somewhere a compromise is reached that everyone can live with.
The poll is always decidedly high, perhaps in the high 90% willing to strike. This is the leverage that Alberta needs. Anything less will show weakness and Ottawa and all the other progressive lefty lefts will smell blood and it's game over for sovereignty and a better seat at the table.
How many sovereigntists complied with the census? This will be a huge tell for Ottawa.
I'm waiting for my fine. They quit knocking on my door in June.
This may the only way to get enough votes. Then hopefully we can really get people to see what is happening because it is frightening and not remotely in our best interests. We may have onced loved Canada, but it has become a cess pool and Carney is not done robbing us, starving us, surveilling us, stifling our voices, controlling our existance,, and helping us kill ourselves. Alberta needs to lead the way because their is no future in the Canada of today or in the foreseeable future for that matter.
