JT Pauses Carbon Taxes?

For the Atlantic Provinces Only!
16

While I am happy that the Carbon Taxes have been frozen and that we’re not scorching another pallet of Taxpayer Dough by shipping it off to some 3rd world money laundering country…this really pisses me off.

Atlantic Provinces only started paying this bullshit tax to begin with, July 1st, 2023…and now they’re getting a pause for 3 fucking years?

This pisses me off too…

But do you know what really gets my goat?

4 times in the last year, the conservatives put out motions to halt the Carbon Tax due to the increased cost of living…4 times the Atlantic Provinces - Majority voted AGAINST doing this very thing that they are now getting…

I’m serious…

Check it out:

Motion 1 - December 8, 2022:

MOTION TEXT

That, given that,

(i) Canada's Food Price Report 2023 states that a typical farm will pay $150,000 in carbon tax per year when the carbon tax is tripled,

(ii) families will pay an additional $1,065 for groceries in 2023 for a total of $16,288 due to increased costs being passed on to consumers,

(iii) food bank visits were at an all-time high reaching 1.5 million in March 2022, a 15% increase from the previous year according to Food Banks Canada,

(iv) 20% of Canadians are skipping meals and grocery price inflation is at 11%,

the House call on the government to cancel the carbon tax that is applied to all food inputs and production, including:

(a) all farm fuels;

(b) grain drying;

(c) fertilizer;

(d) transportation; and

(e) other appropriate aspects of the food supply system.

Voted against by the Atlantic Provinces:

Motion 2 - February 8, 2023:

MOTION TEXT

That, given that,

(i) the Bank of Canada governor has admitted that the carbon tax contributes to inflation,

(ii) the Parliamentary Budget Officer says that households will pay more in carbon tax costs than they get back,

(iii) the government plans to triple the carbon tax, which will increase the price of gas, groceries, and home heating,

the House call on the government to immediately cancel the carbon tax.

Voted against by the Atlantic Provinces:

Motion 3 - June 5, 2023:

MOTION TEXT

That, given that,

(i) the first carbon tax, including sales tax, will add 41 cents to a litre of gas,

(ii) the second carbon tax, including sales tax, will add 20 cents to a litre of gas,

(iii) the combination of carbon tax one and carbon tax two will mean that Canadians pay an extra 61 cents for each litre of gas,

(iv) making life more expensive for Canadians in a cost of living crisis by implementing a second carbon tax demonstrates how out of touch this Liberal prime minister is,

(v) the Parliamentary Budget Officer confirmed that both carbon taxes will have a net cost of up to $4,000, depending on the province in which they live,

the House recognize the failure of carbon tax one and call on the government to immediately cancel carbon tax two (the "Clean Fuel Regulations").

Voted against by Atlantic Provinces:

Motion 4 - 3 weeks ago - October 4, 2023:

MOTION TEXT

That, given that,

(a) the Bloc Québécois supported the so-called "Clean Fuel Standard", a second national carbon tax, which will raise gas prices in Quebec by 17 cents per litre, according to the Parliamentary Budget Officer;

(b) the Bloc Québécois said carbon taxes need to be "increased much more radically than it is now";

(c) the New Democratic Party and Liberals supported measures to quadruple the carbon tax to 61 cents per litre; and

(d) Atlantic Liberal members of Parliament allege they are not in favour of the carbon taxes but have supported carbon tax measures 23 times since 2015,

the House call on the government to introduce legislation, within seven days of this motion being adopted, to repeal all carbon taxes to bring home lower prices on gas, groceries, and home heating.

Voted against by Atlantic Provinces:

Each of the 4 times, in the last year…all the way up to 3 weeks ago, these cocksuckers voted majority against repealing or halting this bullshit tax for All Canadians…and now, they get to have a 3 year hiatus?

After they just started paying it?

It’s completely fucking obscene!
