As Ontario is set to join into the Vaxport provincial systems - along with BC, Manitoba and Quebec, I figured I’d drill into this a little and see why catching COVID from somebody who has been vaccinated is healthier than catching COVID from somebody who hasn’t.
As it turns out, if you were on the high risk scale for the worst outcomes of COVID, it makes no difference if you catch it from somebody with 0 - 3 jabs.
Reports of breakthrough cases are already fairly common, where even 60 Texas Democrats attempted a publicity stunt and it turned into a mini-superspread event.
Both BC and Ontario even report some of the stats for breakthrough COVID, the CDC has a couple of recent studies out on the same thing - waning immunity and approx 50% of the highest risk who are marked as Severely Ill from Israel have had both jabs.
Even after Jab 3:
TV: 14 Israelis who got 3rd shot later infected with COVID-19
So, if you have been vaccinated you can not only get COVID again, you can also transmit it to others - there is no question about this. How long after? Well, there’s not much by way of studies on this. Israel says that you will need to have a booster shot after 6 months to be valid and but I’m not entirely convinced by their fully vaccinated rate of 50% of the population around March 19, 2021 and when new cases started to take off again at the end of June, 2021.
Remembering that case rate was already on the decline in other countries, like Canada, where case count had fallen by about 90% when only 10% of the population was fully vaccinated - June 10, 2021.
So, how long does a double jab last? 3 months? 5 Months? 6 weeks?
Nobody actually knows and what’s really kind of terrible about this is that nobody seems to be trying to figure it out.
They just know you should be vaccinated…or there will be consequences.
DAMMIT!
The Third Dose is going to be hitting Canada in the next short period of time, of this, I have no doubt.
But until its rolled out, how long is your passport going to be valid until needing a booster? And does having a valid passport really mean that you are not able to catch and spread the virus or just not as likely?
The rest of the lunacy comes into play in that we are being told that if you haven’t been vaccinated, you can spread COVID easier.
As it turns out, this may be bullshit.
The same people who are at highest risk of the worst outcomes of COVID are also the same people who are more likely to spread the virus. Research from the University of Minnesota help put this into a little more perspective.
Average BMI was higher in inpatients than in outpatients and in those who required oxygen therapy than in those who didn't. Thirty-five percent of enrollees had one or more underlying illnesses, ranging from 25% in underweight or normal participants to 68% in those with severe obesity. The most common underlying diseases were high blood pressure (20.1%) and diabetes (12%), and both were increasingly common with higher obesity categories.
"In a population of Military Health System beneficiaries, obesity was strongly correlated with COVID-19 severity, viral load, and antibody response, suggesting the relationship between obesity and COVID-19 severity may be mediated by increased viral load in those with a higher body mass index," the authors concluded.
The Government of Canada agrees:
If you have a higher body mass, you carry a higher viral load.
That’s it.
So, the people who are the least comfortable flying business class, with 2 injections, for no determined time after their injections, that have breakthrough COVID are the most likely to spread it.
But all they will need is a passport to turn a plane ride into a superspreader event.
You, who may be fit and healthy or under the age of 20 with no comorbodities who have elected to not get the jabs, will be driving…maskless…across Canada.
Health is no laughing matter.
And if you are not sure where you fit into the Body Mass Index, I’d encourage you to visit ->Body Mass Calculator and find out.
Personally and as of 6 years ago I was tipping in at about 35.4, on the way to being Morbidly Obese. Today, I sit comfortably under Normal Weight at 20.7.
A piece of paper or electronic QR code on your phone will neither keep you safe nor prevent you from spreading COVID to others and the same people who are at highest risk, who have always been at highest risk, will continue to be at highest risk and Canadian Provincial and Federal Vaxports will do absolutely nothing to keep you safe.
