I’ve taken leave from my fulltime working job (I quit), just recently…for a number of different reasons.
In these reasons is me needing to get caught up with a few things in my life and to focus a little more on some reading/writing/research…bla, bla, bla.
In this downtime, I’ve finally gotten caught up with my revenues/income taxes and GST statements for YakkStack, which is of course required to support another 2 million people that are supposed to land in Canada this year, more broke than I am, that have no place to live, that I should be able to write off as Dependents…
As it turns out…when you shut off paid subscriptions for half a year and aren’t really watching what goes out…given the rising costs of everything of late…the well runs dry, rather quickly.
Who knew?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyways…my analysis on my hobby - writing, social media and especially the events part of life turns out to be rather expensive. Addition to this…while paid subscribers haven’t voluntarily left, during the period that I had subs turned off, a lot of payment information has expired…all good.
Now…this was never meant to be a revenue venture…this wasn’t trying to capitalize on a pandemic.
But it was also not meant to sink me this deep into the red.
I have ZERO regrets about this last few years and we’ve done some amazing things together…I’m not leaving the platform, nor will I stop writing…
Just going to be taking it a lot easier on the outings and events until I get caught up.
On the Personal Finance side of things…I am fine.
This isn’t an Ezra Levant(esque), plea for money…I’m not opening a go-fund-me…not looking for extra paid subscribers, not going to be increasing the monthly or yearly fees.
I am just looking to treat this more along the lines of a reasonable business and keep out of the red…
And carry on, business as usual…in a more refined and responsible way.
With all of that being said…humbling as it is…
I have a birthday coming up over the next couple of weeks…thinking about going out for a beverage, if you’d like to join. Thinking along the lines of Jamesons, like we did, pre-Christmas.
Maybe like on Friday, February 9th?
You in?
Happy Birthday and Cheers!
We're moving to Alberta for may 1 and I look forward to meeting you in person sometime and buying you a beer...I'm a feb bday as well. Shanna apostate nurse .
