After JT’s published letter to Alberta, Premier Smith fired back and it’s kind of glorious!
If you hadn’t had a chance to read about this yet, give it a quick look…make sure you check out the comments section, this is where the true gold in our community can be found:
Smiths reply was to let JT and the feds know that their condescending tone and disingenuous message is not appreciated.
Nothing like a little beatdown with the facts…and good to see this go into a public forum, even if only on Twitter/X.
The problem is…Libs still own the media and while they have no true support in Alberta, the NDP does…and will drag this message out, with their continued spread of doom and gloom to keep Albertans fearing change with uncertainty.
Here’s where we come in…
We need to get some boots to the ground and spread some actual facts about what the Alberta Pension Plan looks like and start to advocate inside of our communities - not just Alberta - for getting our provinces and country back into a state we can proud to be part of.
What is this going to look like?
Welp…a journey of a thousand miles has to start with the first steps and for this, I’m working to enlist a little help.
I’ve reached out to MLA Shane Getson to join our YakkStack community for another conversation and we’re getting this organized.
With Shane in the house, let’s have a look at the facts and have some information that is ready for distribution to counter the “Albertans are greedy for not wanting to subsidize the country anymore”, messaging. Let’s get some boots to the ground and work to organize before the Coalition works to divide us again.
After 8 years of the Liberal Government, 2 years of coalition government…life for Canadians has never been more expensive and we have never been more divided.
There are a great many topics we need to cover, decisions made where we were never involved or even asked about how these changes will impact our lives…a lot of these only serve to make life more expensive while providing ZERO value.
Let’s get back to having these conversations…as a community and let’s work to be a part of the change that we’d like to see.
Updates to follow - meeting schedule will be provided with as much advance notice as possible.
The points I think everyone is missing are it shows that CPP is vastly underfunded and Quebec is allowed a pension plan that often has far better benefits.
If its catastrophic for Alberta to be outside the CPP, can the same not be said of Quebec? Funny Quebec are always exempt.
Re the underfunding the only reason the formula shows that Alberta is owed so much money presumably is because Ottawa lost it. I'd check transfers to WEF accounts.
Example of what I think happened.
If I was a mob boss and I'm supposed to steward $10 for each of 10 made men ie 100$
but then someone wants out and wants their $10 and I go that's crazy that's half the money.
Is the problem really that someone wants half the money or, that the financial stewards pissed away the 80 out of 100 dollars?
IMHO that's the real issue.
I think Alberta's share should be 17% or 18 except $$ missing makes it 50% or so, $ went away, probably waiting for ESG to turn a profit in China for the WSF. The tyrant probably doesn't want people looking closely at that though, hence the shitting bricks.
LOVE this, thanks, Sheldon......
In the meantime.... also, let's do this.... share, share and double share..... like Sheldon said, grassroots...
Canadian Petition e-4625
Canada's membership in the United Nations (UN) and World Health Organization (WHO), imposes negative consequences on the people of Canada, far outweighing any benefits. https://mathewaldred.substack.com/p/canadian-petition-e-4625?utm_source=post-email-title&publication_id=705029&post_id=138077360&utm_campaign=email-post-title&isFreemail=true&r=c55mw&utm_medium=email
