After a little more digging and going over some additional footage, my original estimate at $30 Million was grossly shy of the target that Paul Champ is going for.
He’s shooting for $15 Million per day for the length of the protest. Now, originally his claim on February 4th, 2022 was for $9.8 Million, up to the the 4th, 2022. Not sure if he can go back on that but adding in the additional $15 Million per day.
By my math, that works out to be $195 Million dollars added to the $9.8 Million coming up to about $205 Million Dollars. This will be brought on behalf of the 12,000 residents of the area plus all additional businesses - who are claiming loss through private nuisance and punitive damages.
They may have already secured the initial donations of the Freedom Convoy funding as he said that they have frozen these accounts and have investigators digging into additional information on these transactions.
Most recent information shows that 60% of donors from the GiveSendGo were actually Canadians, 37% from the US, where the other information may have been dated or volume weighted by the size of the contribution.
7,400 donors is what I can find but not sure who would all be on this list or what may still come from GoFundMe…but, if this is the total, works out to be about $27,500 per donor.
I think there will probably be some volume weighted on this as in, those who donated more may end up having to pay more or those who were involved in the “Occupation of Ottawa” may have to pay more but when you have an office full of lawyers shooting for $200 Million Dollars that already have their investigators digging into this…they are going to be pushing for the FASTEST payout they can.
Your $20, may end up costing you $30 Grand.
OUCH!
