Sunday I posted a substack about one of our extended family who was savagely brutalized at the Calgary Stampede last Friday…in case you missed it, you can check it out here:
Video is unclear but I have received a better one, posted on Twitter if you want a clearer view of what went down →Link
Jay was delayed in getting his surgeries but finally made it home on Tuesday…but will still have 2 more surgeries to go through. One more in 2 weeks and the other 2 weeks following.
Given the extent of the damage to his jaw, he’s actually unable to sip through a straw and instead has to force liquids into his mouth with a syringe feeding to the back of his throat with a catheter hose. (yeah…kinda gross, but he’s in decent spirits). Me and Mrs. Yakkstack went out on a grocery shop for him yesterday and did what we could to give him some variety and have the full GSG funds transferred over.
He wanted to reach out and thank everybody who donated but wasn’t able to do this through Give-Send-Go, so he’d written me his thank-you message and asked if I could extend it out.
Before I copy you in on that…just an update on my side of things. As you may or may not know, I currently have suspended all Paid Subscriptions until October…but, as my own personal way of thanking you for your continued support in our community, I am going to be extending this until January 1, 2024 - and, I can promise that there is some really great content and Townhalls coming - I’ll keep you updated.
Anyways…from me, my personal thank you…and now a word from Jalen.
Hey Everyone!
My name is Jalen Yankson,
I'd like to reach out to all of you as I'm beyond grateful for the overwhelming support you've shown me during this challenging time.
Your generosity has touched me in ways I can't fully express. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for stepping up and being there for me.
To all my amazing friends, family, and the awesome DTOWN crew, you all rock!
Your kind words/comments and donations have lifted my spirits and given me the strength to keep pushing forward.
Sheldon, a special shout-out to you for putting this incredible fundraiser together and for being that parental figure we all needed as we grew up.
Your care and love mean the world to me.
I'm happy to share that I'm on the road to recovery. Your kindness has made this journey much easier.
As I look ahead to the future, I am inspired to pay it forward and be a source of support and encouragement to others in their times of need.
Your kindness has motivated me to become a better person and to continue to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Once again, thank you, thank you, thank you! Your collective support has made a world of difference, and I'll forever carry the memory of your kindness in my heart.
With sincere gratitude,
ThruTheWire ~

Better days…
Thanks for the update! Keeping Jalen in my prayers. What a *ahem, pardon my French* fucked up world we are living in.
Thank you for the update Sheldon. Joining you in wishing Jalen well as he recovers from his injuries.
