The problem with Socialism is that you eventually run out of other peoples money.
~Margaret Thatcher
Which appears to be happening in Edmonton as Smith and the UCP decide that it’s time to step in and help control the situation in Edmonton.
It’s without a doubt that the Union Selected former Bus Driver - Mayor Sohi, hasn’t a clue what it takes to run a city…given the rampant crime rates, homelessness, tent cities, drug addicts…not to mention the pothole crisis in Edmonton.
I remember a couple years back seeing a pothole that was so large and so deep that a shopping cart was placed in it, to help drivers steer clear of it. The shopping cart was almost fully emersed!
All of this with a 6.6% increase in Property Taxes for 2024, that seemingly bloat the budget spending on pet projects and completely ignore the safety of Edmontonians, their welfare, streets and infrastructure.
I love Edmonton, at least used to…was born there and loved going back there in the summers. Let’s face it, their Fringe Fest, Taste of Edmonton and other summertime gatherings were always superior to what we had in Calgary…with exception of the Stampede vs K-days, where Calgary for having the same basic midway, Calgary kicks ass by being well known as one of the largest Rodeos on the planet (as noted by Trivial Pursuit - Genus Edition).
Numbers for these respective shows, with Klondike Days having lost its identity through a series of name changes, in 2023 only boasted 560(ish)k guests to the 1.4 Million(ish) in attendance at the Stampede…whatever.
Edmonton Eskimos being rebranded to the Edmonton Elks - to save a few shekels on not having to do much for artwork changes…for REASONS!
And in addition to losing some of its heritage and identity to wokeism, it’s just not as pleasant of a place to visit anymore.
Their Light Rail Transit system, when I’d spent some time there, after they’d worked to expand the line - couldn’t ever make it up to speeds acceptable for public transport. You could literally walk faster than it on certain segments of the line and would lose your ever loving mind if you were caught in traffic while it was crossing over.
Paint Drying and Grass Growing seemingly accelerated faster and were more entertaining to observe.
Now…from what I understand, people are afraid to take it for fear of being stabbed or beaten for their wallet or cellphones.
WTF Edmonton?
This is what the Union Supported Elected Class have ushered in to the cities of Edmonton and Calgary and the entire province of British Columbia as a whole and what supports the failing policies of the Liberal Minority Government, through coalition with the NDP and Liberal Parties of their respective communities and Provinces.
Provincial NDP and Federal NDP are the SAME PARTY, and if you sign up for either, you are a member of both, as according to their constitutions.
And I cannot stress this enough…Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party have decimated Canada financially, but could not have done this, were it not for the support through their Supply and Confidence deals with the NDP.
I won’t start on the Carbon Tax increase on April 1st, 2024…and then again on April 1st, 2025…because this has been beat to death and even with the same 7 premiers demanding to be heard by the Federal Government, again this week, these pleas for the mercy of struggling Canadians will continue to go unheard.
Sigh.
Liberalism hasn’t really made it into the Province of Alberta yet, as Liberal Branding but has seeped in under Liberal Light - NDP and has begun to infest our province - specifically through Edmonton.
I’m actually still shocked that despite punting 2x Loser - Rachel Notley, as party leader that they have any support - through unions, municipally, provincially or federally…yet, Naheed Nenshi was able to fill a house with supporters, in Redmonton last night:
I mean, sure…it’d take a half to full row of these people to make up a full set of natural teeth…additional AED’s were added to the hall for support and 14 ambulances were parked outside as a precautionary measure, but the back row, for those without walkers and wheelchairs, was standing room only.
HOW do people continue to vote for the collapse of our province, our economy, support of the Liberals?
Lies and Advertising, is how.
It’s like this…the NDP support the Unions…the Unions fund the NDP campaigns…most political parties cannot generate the same cash to compete.
Just today, Jagmeet Singh - NDP Federal Leader, from British Columbia, posted this on Twitter/X:
And despite the ratio - 551 comments in objection vs the 144 in likes, they continue to drum home these arguments where CEOs are BAD, workers are Good…but this actually only applies to Unionized Shops, this event was on the other side of the continent from Jag’s riding - Halifax, and completely ignores the fact that Healthcare Workers in BC are Unionized and is still the only province, from what I understand, on the PLANET, that still mandates the jabs to be employed.
Jag doesn’t stand up for these workers, despite the 1 Million British Columbians who can’t get a doctor, BC transporting Cancer Patients into the US for treatments and consecutive days in numerous regions where there is NO OVERNIGHT Emergency Services:
He only stands up for the workers who will toe the party line…and their rewards for right think?
Unions get Jagmeet Singh to raise awareness to the fact that Unionized Workers are really hard-done-by, and supports them in their EXTORTION for higher wages, while calling those who are not in unions, aren’t subject to union dues and will accept lower wages - SCABS!
These people are ASSHOLES, are a blight on Canada and Canadians and as we progress, municipally, provincially and federally…I can’t wait to roll out more of their abject and abysmal failures!
Quite the photo and I would wager, they are mostly if not all faithful ND's. Citizens get what they vote for, or don't show up to vote for. I pay attention to my community League and attend city council meetings when the agenda affects my neighbourhood; and volunteer fo work on the campaigns for my provincial MLA candidate and federal MP candidate of choice. Why should Alberta tax payers bail out socialists who bankrupt their city, forcing taxes to go through the roof? If the situation gets bad enough, then just maybe people will become engaged. Until then, cities from coast to coast will continue to be dominated left wing lunatic mayors and councillors. and unions. Canada's central banker alluded to this problem when he stated that low productivity will negatively impact inflation. What he didn't say is that over 55% of workers are employed by some level of gov't, who don't contribute anything to productivity. Public sector employees are the highest paid sector of the economy and with the best benefits and pension plans, something that doesn't exist in the private sector. The tax burden on the private sector businesses and employees has hit the wall as evidenced by the carbon tax revolt. It feels like something is going to break soon and when it does, it won't be pretty.
Sohi, Singh, Nenshi. I think I see the problem.
