Q: It is well documented that it reduces your risk of severe illness, but to what extent does it actually prevent you from catching it?
A: The bivalent booster provides very robust antibody response…but we need more experience to see what degree it reduces your chances of infection, but we do believe that it will will provide a boost of protection to lower your chance of infection. The main reason we encourage others to get boosters right now is to boost to prevent severe protection. That is what we are most concerned about at this stage, keeping people well enough so that they don’t have to end up in hospitals.
Q: Do we have any specific stats to communicate to people, to what extent are they protected from serious illness based on when they got their most recent booster…do we have data on this? We didn’t have data on this 6 months ago, do we have any more of it now?
A: The best way we can explain this is that from people getting their 3rd and 4th boosters, we definitely saw a decrease in the risk for hospitalization particular for people aged 60 or 65 years and older, there is a big difference, their rate of hospitalization if they had a recent dose and those who had not got a 3rd or 4th dose.
I’d be straight up throwing papers and tipping over chairs and tables with complete fucking outrage with these answers…because we’ll never move away from here until we qualify these answers.
